Accommodations

We are so excited that our guests will be staying at Hotel Indigo! The hotel strives to be "green" which is really important to the two of us. I also love the modern, clean, zen-like design - I'll need all the zen I can get on the wedding day. The hotel is particularly convenient to our guests, at the intersection of several major highways. Also, it is T accessible - the green line Riverside stop is right across the street. That is helpful - if guests get too tipsy, they can take a short walk from our venue to the green line and take the train back to the hotel. I've already checked with our venue to make sure people can leave cars on campus, should they feel unable to drive.

I'm especially excited about the suite we get - it has 2 bathrooms! Perfect, since everyone will be getting ready in our room beforehand - we'll use every bit of space!

We've Been Announced!

So, we weren't exactly sure where to announce our wedding - or even if to announce it at all! He's from upstate New York, but we've both been in Boston for years, and my mother moved out of our hometown last year. But my brother works for Boston Magazine, and they have a wedding section - thought it might be fun to submit our announcement for kicks. And it's now online! How fun!

Lucky Find: Earrings!

So, originally I had been in love with a pair of earrings from Ross-Simons. I stalked them for months. Which, turns out, was for too long - because they were discontinued!

I had a mini-panic moment. The earrings had been perfect for my dress, not too flashy, not to long and dangly, and had that vintage look I was going for. I didn't have a Plan B.

However, a week later, my good friend from college sends me an email about how she's starting to sell Lia Sophia jewelry, and was curious if I'd help her out by hosting a party. I said yes on the spot - anything to help a good friend! And then she told me I could pick anything from the catalog for a hostess gift. Free jewelry? Oh yeah, I was excited.

I paged through the catalog, lusting after almost everything - until I got to nearly the last page and saw the Bella Donna earrings! (Pictured) Bingo! Exactly the vintage, art-deco flair I'm looking for.

My party was this past Saturday and she couldn't hand me the earrings quick enough! They look beautiful, and I think they will really complement my dress. One accessory down, one more to go - I'm still on the hunt for something to wear in my hair!

Shushka's Invites

As some of you may know, my younger sister is also getting married this year - and she let me design her invites! (She has her own blog, full of yummy, health recipes!)

I finally finished them last weekend and I'm excited to share the results with everyone! She chose a blush pink pocketfold invite, and wanted to incorporate a khohloma design (her fiancĂ©e is Ukrainian). Also, her new married name will translate to "bullfinch" so we added some bird elements in as well. She wanted romantic, whimsical invites, and I hope I delivered!

The pocketfolds were purchased from Paper Source, the paper and return envelopes were purchased at Neenah Paper, and the custom name stamp was purchased at Simon's Stamps (where I've also purchased stamps for my own invitations).

The exterior of pockets were hand embossed with the couple's names and closed with ivory satin ribbon. Inside, a custom kholhoma was created in their wedding colors, along with a matching monogram. Three inserts included information on directions (with a custom map), accommodations, and RSVP card.

I learned my lesson with hand trimming on this one (each piece was hand cut) - I think if I do these again for another bride, I'll purchase pre-cut inserts!
